I’m Monika Welch, a dedicated singer and vocal coach providing personalized singing lessons and vocal coaching in Peterborough and the surrounding areas. I cater to students of all ages and abilities and foster a holistic and student-centered approach in my teaching methodology.
My focus extends beyond isolated aspects of the voice and recognises that various factors contribute to shaping our vocal abilities. I acknowledge the intimate connection between our voices and overall well-being. As such, I consider both physical and emotional elements that impact vocal development and expression.
In my singing lessons, I emphasise the importance of correct and safe techniques while encouraging students to explore diverse singing styles. I guide them in mastering the fundamentals of singing mechanics, empowering them to cultivate their own distinctive vocal personas.
Drawing on my passion for music, stage experience, and counselling skills, I strive to nurture students as vocal artists. My ultimate goal is not only to impart musical skills but also to instill confidence that extends beyond the realm of singing, positively influencing various aspects of their lives. From hobby to profession
My personal journey with singing commenced several years ago when, at the age of 9, I became a member of a local church choir. This experience revealed to me the immense power our voices possess when given proper training and attention.
During my tenure with the choir and at my music school, I acquired crucial singing fundamentals that continue to shape my approach to vocal expression.
These fundamentals encompassed vital aspects such as correct posture, diaphragmatic breathing, pitch control, resonance, dynamics, and overall performance techniques. These skills have proven invaluable in all my subsequent singing endeavors, and now, I utilise them to assist my students in their own vocal development.

For the love of Queen
My passion for music has been a constant in my life, and it was my deep admiration for Queen and Freddie Mercury that propelled me to pursue singing more seriously.
This legendary band not only fueled my musical aspirations but also played a pivotal role in my decision to make the UK my home. Following my secondary school education in Poland, I took a leap of faith and moved to the UK, inspired by a desire to explore an unconventional path.
Interestingly, my journey in London began with a job at the iconic Kensington Market. I later discovered that this historic site had once hosted a stall operated by none other than Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor before the formation of ‘Queen.’ This serendipitous connection affirmed to me that my move to the UK was indeed fated.
As fate would have it, music had another surprise in store for me a few years later. In this chapter of my life, I was introduced to my now-husband, confidant, musical partner, and incredible guitarist, John Welch. Together, we share not only our musical dreams but also a profound love for Queen. The twists and turns of my musical journey have woven a tale of destiny and connection, and I am grateful for the harmonies life has orchestrated.
How Monika Welch Vocal Coaching has come to life
Throughout my musical journey, I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with exceptional bands and artists, gracing stages of all sizes and types, from theatres and hotels to restaurants, clubs, festivals, and charity events. It’s been an honor to open for remarkable talents like Geno Washington and share the spotlight with the multi-talented Ricky Groves, known for his role as Garry Hobbs in Eastenders, as well as his captivating singing prowess.
After years of regular performances with various bands, I took a hiatus from live gigs to focus on starting a family. During this time, I decided to channel my expertise, stage experience, and coaching skills to assist others in discovering their singing potential. This is how Monika Welch Vocal Coaching came to life.
I am now dedicated to offering vocal lessons in Peterborough and its surrounding areas, catering to both beginner and advanced students of all ages. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, with many success stories to share. Some of my students have successfully auditioned for The Voice, while others have joined bands or gained admission to prestigious performance schools in the UK and abroad.
